Crocheting the Evening

Crocheting the evening in a nice tight pattern. Blue on yellow flannel, a nice edging. Chilly mornings as I walk to school. The sun not quite up yet, the end of Daylight savings time soon. Sometime an evening shower is just the thing to help with the mood. Curl up in a robe and watch the Monday night football game. Cheering crowds, announcers and lots of action.

Fall Evenings

Ahhh yes, the smell of the changing season. Summer bid it's last farewell and welcomed fall in to takes its place. Early mornings the sunrises are pink and gold. Crisp air awakens me as I walk my regular path to school. In the evenings, I saunter home again and await the sunset. It is the smells that give my heart joy. After the thundershower on Saturday, the world was so clean and droplets clung to the foliage. It hasn't changed colors yet, but that moment will come when it seems if by magic suddenly the leaves will take on a different hue. Oranges, yellows, browns, purples, all swirl together as the leaves take on a carpet of color. Smell those wet leaves, smoke coming from chimneys taking off the chill inside. Pretty soon those leaves will swirl down around my feet. Waiting for the crunch to come, I will enjoy the stillness in the air.

yes, fence me in...

My fence guys are here to install...now little Sadie can roam the backyard and I can sit out there and enjoy a cool breeze.

Feeling a bit overwhelmed today. Too much hard work getting ready for school. I am laying low today.

Catching the last rays of summer...

Here it is, the evenings getting shorter and cooler. Sat out on a patio at Music on the Vine and enjoyed wonderful live music. The saxaphonist was wonderful. We listened, laughed. Sang along, answered music questions, danced and had an all around good time. After the closing song...we tootled off to Shelley's for another patio sit out until 1:30 a.m. Cool breeze, no bugs, and enjoyed another round of conversation. Crawled into bed and slept sweetly.

Folding up Summer

The big purple raft was being folded up for the summer. The last trip on the Salmon river was a wild ride. The last of the marshmellows were being roasted over the coals of the last bonfire. Smoke was swirling up into the starry sky and midnight approached. The last hike along the Sesash River was hiked by an 83 year old dad, blind in one eye, hard to see out of the other, two knee replacements, 3 open heart surgeries, and the rest of the group had a hard time keeping up with him. Layed out on the grassy knoll by Payette lake and watched the kids of summer soaking up the last rays of the season. Licking icecream cones as they melted in the warmth of the sun.
Summer maybe fading away, but the memories are clear and will warm me up during the upcoming cold months. Let the sun warm me and my family's hugs sustain me...

Sunday Morning

Beautiful morning, dog is lazing again in the sun. What a funny creature she is. Sleeps under my bed and won't get up until I do.
Ready for a day of church. Afterwards may go see the "folks". My in-laws are in their 80's and need some TLC. My sons go with me. I knit or crochet while visiting. The boys sit with Grandpa and watch sports on TV. They keep it hot in their house which is like a sauna. We hear good stories about their growing up years and Grandpa like to fiddle with his knives.
Good times.

Morning sun

The Morning sun has come up and shines in my window framed by red roses. My dog, Sadie the Westie is lazing on the top of the couch to catch those precious rays.  My oldest son is out working, selling Vandal Gear to Alumni. He is an alumni in search of a real job. My youngest son is sleeping in....big surprise.
We had a marvelous trip to the mountains last week. We rafted on the Salmon river, hiked 12 miles into a high mountain lake and cherished to beauty of Nature at it's summer peak.
Goals for today: sort through my library of Children's books to get ready for the school year.
It is an ongoing project. I have a passion for Children's literature.
I am finishing an edging on a flannel baby blanket to donate to the local hospital's baby ward. I have finished 6 and will finish 4 more this week. Handwork is a therapy for me.
Working hard to keep my demons away. Studying my 12 steps and helping others is my goal.
Cheerful thoughts and a positive outlook help keep me sane.
